Event Design – Mädchen House Vol. 4 "Return the House" This project showcases the creative direction behind Mädchen House Vol. 4: Return the House, held at P.A.T.S, South Jakarta. As the fourth installment in the Mädchen House series, this volume closes a narrative cycle following Where is Home, which explored themes of emotional searching and disorientation. Return the House marks the moment of return of rediscovering one’s home, both emotionally and spiritually. The visual concept draws from this resolution, combining deep black tones with soft pink accents to represent the reignition of spirit after a period of darkness. A glowing star icon served as a visual motif, symbolizing hope and the guiding light that leads one back home.

My Approach

My approach centered on capturing the emotional shift from searching to arrival, and from uncertainty to renewed energy. I crafted an atmosphere that felt both powerful and reflective, using color contrast, lighting, and motion elements to create a visual experience that echoed the theme of returning. Every element from stage lighting and motion backdrops to social media content and print materials was designed to align with this transformation.

Vision and Innovation

The vision was to create an emotionally charged yet celebratory environment, signifying the end of a journey and the beginning of new energy. The black and pink color scheme reflected this contrast darkness and light, past and present. The star icon was integrated across design assets as a symbol of clarity and rekindled purpose. Through synchronized lighting, animated backdrops, and minimal yet impactful design, the event set a new emotional tone while staying true to the Mädchen House aesthetic.

Identifying Unique Challenges

One challenge was evolving the event's visual identity without disconnecting from the previous volumes. Since Return the House was the narrative conclusion, it had to feel elevated, complete, and emotionally satisfying while still exciting and visually engaging for the audience.

Resolving Complex Problems

To ensure visual cohesion, I developed a refined visual guide that merged past elements with new motifs. Motion backdrops, created in After Effects, featured animated stars against a deep backdrop, subtly referencing past visuals while signaling a new chapter. The lighting design transitioned from moody shadows to vibrant pink highlights during peak musical moments. I also created tickets, flyers, Instagram content, price list posters, and directed event photography to narrate the shift from darkness to light.

Client-Focused Process

As with previous Mädchen House volumes, the project was built on close collaboration with the core team. Regular creative reviews and feedback loops ensured that the concept, tone, and design stayed aligned with both brand direction and audience expectation. The final execution reflected a shared vision of emotional storytelling through design.

Meeting Industry Needs

Return the House further established Mädchen House as a brand capable of merging narrative storytelling with nightlife culture. The event proved that thoughtful, emotionally-driven design can transform a music event into a holistic visual and sensory experience. This project reaffirmed the importance of creative direction in event branding and left audiences with a strong, memorable emotional impression closing the series with clarity, impact, and renewed identity.
